Moreover, significant issues such as prospects for democratization, the important role women have played in this great effort, and a social-historical analysis that takes into account the failures of both the Constitutional Movement of a century ago as well as the present reform movement, have been given their due consideration. This book is a valuable addition to the sociopolitical literature on Iran.

Not only a good revision of Omani history that pays attention to economic, political, social and cultural aspects, but a deep discussion about the meaning of modernity and nation in the Gulf.Also, the best analysis of the Arab Spring (not only in Oman) I've read yet.Highly recommended.
