I wrote my graduation thesis, which is found in this book, about twenty years ago. However, I've written this book both in Japanese and English in order to let the world know about the history of Japanese-Americans in the U.S. I was a senior student in university at that time and was taking a seminar to study about Japanese-Americans. My major was British and American language and the graduation thesis was not a compulsory subject, but, I wanted to write something as a compilation of my four years of studies in university. However, the number of available graduation thesis themes was infinite. When I was thinking what to write about, my professor recommended me to write about "Topaz Times", a newspaper that was published in Japanese and English at Topaz Camp in Utah State during World War Ⅱ. I researched it in the libraries and the amount of the newspapers seemed too great to read all of them. At first, I read all of "Topaz Times" which was published in Japanese and English in a library. Writing about the lives and beliefs of the Japanese-Americans who were detained at Topaz Camp in my own way in addition to drawing out their emotions and way of thinking was a very difficult and time-consuming task. This year, 2015 is a turning point because it has been seventy years since the war. A long period of seventy years has passed since the sad war that caused many casualties. nevertheless, the sad war history is still handed down from generation to generation every year. Without criticizing anybody, I just want to tell the world the things that happened in the past like this and that there were many people who had tragic experiences. Moreover, the final conclusion of my thesis was written about twenty years ago. Therefore, I expected the recent situation of Japanese-Americans in the U.S.A. to be different. In order to update my thesis, I visited Hawaii and UC Berkeley's libraries and I want to add what I saw and felt. As you read, you will understand that this past atrocity must never happen again.

Ending the Cycle By arramus Yuko Rose provides us with a very well researched analysis and overview of a period of history that continues to repeat itself in one form or another anywhere our species cares to inhabit.Emotions are a fundamental part of our being and make us, and other species, a large part of what we are. Whenever we become blinded by ignorance and fear, more often than not, a cycle of hurt is not far away. This plays out again and again at any level of interpersonal relationship.Wishing for a time when the cycle will end!Jools
