7,000,000,000 people on this planet would like to find a buried treasure on their property. ..........................................IT HAPPENED TO ME!...................................................... My life was at risk on a daily basis for five years. During the summer and fall I spent nearly every day digging exploratory holes and then tunnels as deep as 36 feet below ground in my own backyard using a mini jackhammer and a variety of shovels and wrecking bars. I escaped numerous deadly tricks designed to prevent anybody but Drake from recovering the treasure. These included flooding tunnels, collapsing rooms triggered by pressure sensitive stones, sand and quicksand tricks designed to trap and suffocate and a false ceiling waiting to crush any unsuspecting treasure hunter. .There is a reason that pictures of Pirate Treasure are always surrounded by skeletons! . During the winter and spring months, I read everything I could find about Sir Francis Drake, the Miwok Indians and technologies that Drake learned about over the course of a lifetime at sea. A history buff, citizen-scientist, daredevil and lover of the high seas from an early age, Robert L. Stupack also prided himself on his skill with numbers. After graduating from Penn State in 1978, he began a profitable career in the financial sector where he worked for such prestigious firms as Price Waterhouse and Smith Barney After spending a year and a half as a trainee on the Bond Trading Desk in Manhattan, he moved to San Francisco where he serviced small and medium sized banks throughout the western US. As luck would have it, he was in Manhattan on Black Friday, October 16, 1987, when his 100+ year-old firm went bankrupt overnight, as depicted in the famous scene from the movie, The Wolf of Wall Street. At age 30 Stupack bought a house on scenic Greenbrae Ridge in Marin County and was thriving in his chosen profession, though soon thereafter he began to feel somewhat restless. At age 44, his life changed radically when he discovered evidence that Sir Francis Drake might have buried plundered treasure under the very property he owned.

By Eyor This book is a fascinating story of the author's obsessive search for the treasure and brass plate of Sir Francis Drake. As he shares his extreme experiences over many years, he makes us wonder whether he is crazy or does he have the unique sense and imagination needed to make discoveries that have evaded others? Interspersed with the author's personal story is the historical fiction account of Sir Francis Drake and his journey across the oceans to the California Coast. The author's intelligence shines through in his mathematical explanation of how his birthday relates to Sir Francis Drake's date of death, which for me would have taken some more studying to understand, but that did not detract from my enjoyment of the book. Screenwriters and producers take note - there is no doubt this story could be turned into a great movie: based on a true story with the added advantage of the exciting history of Sir Francis Drake - sounds like a winner to me!

Sir Francis Drake, a new take on his plundering voyages By Amazon Customer I started reading this book under the title of "Extreme Measurements" It was loosely described as a story related to Sir Francis Drake's buried treasure and I am fascinate with these stories. The author then describes his toiling over the next few years digging numerous tunnels under his property which was located on the north part of San Francisco Bay. Historically, there were writings that did tell of Drake sailing as a Privateer under the flag of Queen Elizabeth I and of his plundering/looting/stealing vast quantities of Gold Artifacts, Silver artifacts and many precious stones. The author then finds several small stones in his lawn which inspires him to start looking up history and then excavating his property. At first it was part time but then it became a full-time obsession to find the "Treasure". He did find a number of interesting things including a mud slurry that had a very high Silver content, a lot of white stones which did contain a few Diamonds and several areas which did contain toxic elements in the fill possibly put there to discourage treasure hunters. Unfortunately, the excavations were halted by rulings from the Town against the type he was doing, he lost the property because of money problems and the whole area was turned into a Park and the whole area was bulldozed into a comp-lately flat area. The Author does not elaborate how this all happened but did gloss over this part in a page or two. However, there is another very interesting part to this yarn related to Mathematics, Cartography, time and date measurement, the different Calendars in use throughout history and the different ways of measuring time, whether it be Lunar, Sun or Celestial; or the new Atomic Clock which of course all are a bit different. It is obvious that the author had to do a lot of research and learning to be able to do all of the calculations needed for the conclusions that he does eventual draw. In a personal conversation, the author did state that he was going to retitle the book and rewrite the final chapter before it was published under the new title. I am very interested in math and science and was very intrigued by this book and will eventually reread it in the revised form. I received this book in exchange for a review. wrp

While I wasn't sure what to expect from this story, I was pleasantly surprised in the unfolding story. The author takes us on a journey from a full-time job and part-time treasure hunter to the opposite as his discoveries mount... and eventually, he has the means to be a full-time treasure hunter. He faces many obstacles to his search, but he never gives up totally!Mr Stupack shows us how he pieces the puzzle together to go to the next step, and he intersperses his adventure with Drake's story as well. There are different calculations he must solve to make certain he is on the right trail. Even with bouts of poisoning from his digging, he still comes back to keep going. Neighbors, family, and other "adversaries" try to stop him from his quest - yet, he prevails in the search. The author is honest in admitting his other activities, and he sounds very tenacious in reaching his goals... It makes an interesting read!I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review. If you like reading about people who go on their own adventure... in their own back yard!... you will enjoy this story!
